since the unsafe migration and trafficking of children for work to metro cities from bihar is rampant, pcvc team decided to approach the issue at the very root from where these children leave from. in order to generate large-scale awareness on the issue and mitigate unsafe migration of children, pcvc team conducted a month-long campaign in november, 2017 in 3 districts of bihar from where large number of children leave for work, namely, east champaran, sitamarhi and gaya. through the campaign, teams visited vulnerable villages across these districts conducting awareness meetings with village administration, community members, parents and guardians, educating them about the negative and legal implications of child labour. read more... successful child trafficking case intervention in gaya world day against trafficking in persons is observed every year on 30 th july. this year, united nations office on drugs and crime (unodc) calls on all to ‘act to protect and assist trafficked persons.’ the issue of trafficking has been a pressing one especially in the context of vulnerable children. with pcvc’s experience on field and ground realities at hand, it has been observed that unsafe migration and trafficking of children for work takes place on a daily basis between source and receiving states. children are found working in pathetic conditions for 15-16 hours a day with little or no wages in return. not only are they victims of trafficking but many also end up becoming victims of abuse. to highlight the significance of this day, we bring to you a successful case intervention done by pcvc in the state of bihar. read more... campaign in jaipur pcvc conducted a large-scale child labour survey and sticker campaign to identify working children in various shops & establishments. in jaipur alone, in the first phase of the campaign, 25,000 shops were covered, creating a buzz across the city and spreading awareness among shopkeepers and employers on not employing children for work. in the second phase of the campaign, more areas of the city were covered where 89,000 shops & establishments were reached out to in order to analyse the situation in these areas as well as to cover a larger part of the city. through the campaign, a total of 625 children were identified working in hotels, eateries, general stores, garages, etc. the aim of the campaign was to create awareness across the cities on the issue of child labour and sensitize consumers and shopkeepers on the implications of employing children. along with this, the focus was also on appreciating and thanking employers and shopkeepers on not employing children at work. read more... initiation of sponsorship program in bahraich one of pcvc’s core program is prevention of potential child labourers at entry and exit points at both source and receiving states. these children are victims of trafficking and unsafe migration leaving source states such as uttar pradesh and bihar for working in metros like mumbai, hyderabad and jaipur. in order to stop children from entering the labour market, regular tracking and prevention is done at railway station and bus depots of these crucial states and districts. keeping in mind the pattern of children migrating to metros from the state of uttar pradesh for work, pcvc started its intervention here with focus on the district of bahraich from where maximum movement of children is observed. read more... say no to child labour see more videos - click here designed & developed by pratham council for vulnerable children & icube solutions
